The last in a series of Seminars was held on Thursday, April 25, 2017 at the Chavis Community Center. The seminar was sponsored by the North Carolina Central University Alumni Association, Raleigh/Wake Chapter. The topic was “Get Smart About Credit.” Angela F. Smith, NCCU Class of 1989, spoke to the audience about Learning New Skills for Managing Money Better, Free Financial Education, and Hands on Banking. Ms. Smith explained that whether you want to build your credit or your own business; invest in the market or a home; shop for a loan or open your first bank account, the Hands on Banking program provides all the basic money tools, skills, and information you need. This free, non-commercial program teaches people in various stages of life about the basics of responsible money management. She stated that everyone — adults, young adults, teens, and children may benefit from learning how to be a better money manager. It does not matter if a person begins early or later in life, gaining new knowledge and skills may help create a brighter financial future. Angela F. Smith has worked in Financial Services for the past 29 years. She has served as Vice President/Banking Center Manager III at Bank of America, Licensed Mortgage Loan Originator with Miracle Mortgage, and is currently a Consumer Load Underwriter. Ms. Smith also serves as financial secretary for the Raleigh/Wake Chapter.
